For Grandmother!
The
sun hardly comes up out of the sea
[And]
I am already hurrying with my well-wishes
May
the loving hand of God
Constantly
shower you with gifts
Have everything, even unto excess
And although always in the sunshine
of happiness[1]
Have a hundred more years of life
And a hundred consolations every day
For
your, grandmother, name-day
May
I also here take comfort
For
your, grandmother, deeds of grace
Live
for us many centuries more
Darling, beloved grandmother
Don’t ever be careworn
Let the circle of grateful children
Always find you happy
May,
unto the late hundredth age
Your
days flow with prosperity

I love this poem. I especially love the lines:
ReplyDelete"Don’t ever be careworn
Let the circle of grateful children
Always find you happy."
The words are so descriptive...careworn....perfect choice for a loving grandmother.
It makes me long to know her. I want to meet his grandmother that Teddy loves so much. I want to know her name. I want to complete her work for her. I want to connect them for eternity.
